I am running for Orange County Clerk-Recorder because the Office desires an “Experienced Professional” who is committed to protecting the Public’s records.  I worked at the County of Orange Clerk-Recorder’s Office starting in 1994 as a Recordable Document Examiner and rose through the ranks and served for 8 years as Chief Deputy Recorder.  For the past two years I have worked at Orange County in the position of Assistant County Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.

I have decided to run for the Office of Clerk-Recorder because I have the operational and management experience needed to be an outstanding County Clerk-Recorder. The Clerk-Recorder is responsible for protecting the public's Official Records such as Real Property Deeds, Lien Filings, Birth Certificates, Marriage Licenses, Death Certificates, Fictitious Business Name Filings and Notary Registrations. The Clerk-Recorder also issues marriage licenses, performs civil wedding ceremonies, accepts passport applications and oversees the Orange county Archives, located in the Old Orange County Courthouse. The person elected needs to be a highly qualified and experienced professional public records manager.

In addition to working in the Clerk-Recorder’s Office for over 12 years, I have actively participated in the State Association of County Clerk-Recorders and completed the training to become a Certified Document Examiner. I am familiar with the Clerk Recorder’s office regulations and computer systems. I was the manager in charge of implementing the Electronic Recording System. We were the first system implemented in California and it has greatly improved the process of document examination and recording for Title Companies and increased staff productivity. 

The Clerk-Recorder’s office plays an important role in protecting real property records to avoid real estate fraud and document property ownership. Public records are readily accessible and are available to authorized people. Some of the records available are copies of birth certificate, death certificate and marriage license. Orange County citizens deserve an experienced manager as their elected Clerk-Recorder.
